I'm starting to doubt my ability to judge peoples' characters. Sometimes I wonder if it really does take me years longer to see the things that others see well ahead of me. So many people - so much time and energy wasted.

No, you're not a bad judge of character. I think you're just a good friend who gives people the benefit of the doubt. I just got told today that I'm a beotch who's cold and pushes people away and thinks I'm better than everyone else. At least you're not that!
it's not always easy at all.
Although I read today that if you are quiet and around a person for two weeks, they will reveal everything about themselves..
